How values are storedMost UI settings are persisted in the settings or module configuration tables. Configuration bootstrap values such as DB access, encryption key, canonical URL and custom admin path remain inconfiguration.php.
Password fields that say “leave blank to keep” retain the encrypted existing secret. Other submitted settings are updated individually; saving one field should not erase unrelated values.
