Configure and verify automation cron

Category: Feature Tutorials 2 Views 0 Helpful Votes

Install the master cron correctly and prove recurring billing tasks are actually running.

Add the cron job

Use CLI PHP and absolute paths. Running the automation page manually proves the code can execute; it does not prove the operating-system scheduler is configured.

*/5 * * * * /usr/bin/php /absolute/path/to/kbilling/crons/cron.php >/dev/null 2>&1

Verify the PHP path

/usr/bin/php -v
/usr/bin/php /absolute/path/to/kbilling/crons/cron.php

The CLI version and required PHP extensions should match the web runtime.

Verify recurring execution

  1. Wait longer than the configured interval.
  2. Open Automation → Automation Status.
  3. Confirm Last Cron Invocation advances without clicking the manual-run button.
  4. Review task counters, mail queue and failures.
“Cron Status: OK” with an old timestampThe last recorded run completed, but the scheduler may no longer be invoking it. Treat the timestamp—not the badge alone—as the health signal.
